Sugar Cookie Scones

Sugar Cookie Scones

  1. 3 cups All-purpose Flour
  2. 2/3 cups Sugar
  3. 5 teaspoons Baking Powder
  4. ¼ teaspoons Salt
  5. 2 sticks Butter
  6. 3/4 C cream or whole milk

  1. combine flour, sugar, powder, and salt in the bowl of your food processor.
  2. cut up the butter on the wrapper into smallish pieces and dump in food processor. Pulse into crumbs.
  3. add egg and cream all at once and pulse until the dough comes together.
  4. pat into 2 circles and cut each into 8 small triangles with pizza cutter.
  5. Place scones on parchment paper and bake at 350 for about 15 minutes. Scones are done when they have risen slightly and do not look like dough in the middle when you crack one in half.

  1. Some notes for this recipe.
I have decreased the butter to 1 and 1/2 sticks with success. I also have added an additional 1/2 C flour. For those who said they had trouble with the scones flattening, I would suggest putting the cut scones in the freezer for 1 hour prior to baking. This seems to do something helpful for helping them rise.
